- Sid HK gives slight pop-up on airbourne opponents
- unblockable fireballs on riseup fixed
- the amount of on-screen fireballs per player limited to 1 (meteor is an exception)

- dive kick counts as a mid-hit again, but with extra start up frames
- rising kicks slightly faster, better at juggling in air

Got some news! v1.1 patch has been released Most of the changes are listed below, hopefully the game is more balanced now.

Changes:

Brand new soundtrack!

No more unblockable jump kick and other blocking fixes :P

New animation for Sid's HK

Light Hits can be canceled into jumps

Dash inputs have been tweaked

Landing frames added for certain moves

Game hanging on the Character Select screen should be fixed

Custom character info now gets saved

More knockback from blocked attacks

Regular Throw + Super Throw hit crouching opponents, and Super Throw cannot be cancelled

Rising Kicks can be performed in air

Tornado Kick improved juggle ability

Shoulder Charge causes pop-up, with more recovery

Diving Kick no longer a mid-hit, now has two versions

Combo Maker length reduced by 39%
Air Fireball travels farther, and doesn't cause player to bounce backwards

Ninja Star more range, and will pop-up airbourne opponents on 2nd hit

New special move: Flying Kick

I already have the next patch underway with a big feature I'm looking forward to.. multiplayer lobbies! Pretty much SSF4's Endless Lobby mode.

Patch contained a nasty bug, so had to pull it from review at the last second. Well no worries, it'll be a while before it comes out now but there will be some additional things in the patch when it comes out- it'll have two patches worth content! Just gotta test it for bugs better :I

Well, the game wont be coming out in August!
A bug was found (USB memory unit stuff) so it'll be another week til next review.

I'm going to tweak the Trial mode while I'm at it, to lure the new players :) I think getting to try out your custom avatar with 4 moves/2 supers should make the demo more fun.

Hit a snag this week in AFO- I submitted the game, only to discover afterwards it ran slowly in low lag conditions. So I pulled it! I think I have corrected the problem and should be going into review again this weekend. Damn you tricky networking :I

Also been working on a trailer for the game, so that'll be nice having an actual video to send around that isn't just an old work in progress capture.

Avatar Fighter will be getting a new version soon- Avatar Fighter Online!

It will be a stand alone version for the same low price of 80MSP and will feature online multiplayer, leaderboards, practice mode and two new fighters!

Here is the first of the two new fighters: JILL. She is a very projectile based character, more so than even Jimmy!

Graffiti LIVE! is the premier drawing app for the Xbox360, that supports automatic peer-to-peer online image sharing, user comments/ratings, image moderation and replays over the Xbox LIVE network. It is currently available for download on the Xbox 360 Indie Games channel for 240MS points (equivalent to US$3).

So I submitted a new GL patch last week- its not the final fix-all solution to the slow down problems but it will make things better in the meantime. And it will get GL back on the marketplace :P

Since then, I've started playing around with Avatars.. Yes thats right, another Avatar game coming to XBLIG! But I promise you this one will not be using those same four animations that everyone else has been sticking to ;) Anyway, I'm hoping for it to be a painless 2-3 month project. Fingers crossed!

Graffiti LIVE! is gone again!

After working fine for 4 days, some technical difficulties with Graffiti LIVE appeared JUST today and has broken the auto-sharing system- actually looks like an XBL issue BUT a patch is on the way to work around it.

It shouldn't take as long as this time to get it patched.

edit: OK it looks like everything is working again. I did end up pulling the game yesterday tho, so if you are looking for it and wondering where it went. :P Check back in a few weeks. The next patch should address the heavy slowdown when you accumulate 100+ drawings.

Ok well, patch got rejected- It'll be another week to resubmit it, then another 1.5-2 weeks to see how far it gets.

Tip: If you are going to submit an XNA game, make sure your XBOX Guide code is solid, because thats pretty much the #1 thing they test for.

So you may have arrived here after playing Puzzwords, which just happened to go up on MindJolt just yesterday.

Puzzwords is the 2nd flash game I made- the first was Paw Frenzy! It is a much more simple game, but at least it has a nice cat who you can pet :) It is also on MindJolt, you can try it here:

XBOX repaired! (again)

The first Xbox repair of 2010 is done! Now lets hope this one lasts :P

So, progress on the patch is going good!

I have found the reasons for many of the unfortunate bugs in the first release and have been patching up the 2 largest ones- 1) Code 3 errors, and 2) finicky network behaviour.

Removed a large source of Code 3 errors (making a new rendertarget for each undo state = bad)
Revamped the networking system to be much more reliable and easier for me to test (only 2 people can be in the same network session- opposed to 31, which lead to several bugs since I couldn't test it properly)
Almost fully implemented the manual hosting/joining options

XBOX Broken!

So my xbox is on the fritz, I am getting E71 errors alot. Good thing I got the extended warranty!
This is going to delay the patch a bit while I wait for it to get repaired.

But the patch is progressing fine, I think I've nailed the problems with transferring images and now making manual Host/Joining options! Imagine how cool it'll be when Graffiti LIVE is working how it was originally intended..

Graffiti LIVE! Connection Issues

Apologies to those users experiencing trouble sharing images with others.

There is a patch in progress to fix the issues, but here are some steps

Once entering the Main Menu, the game immediately looks for other users online.

Look for "Users Connected: "on the screen to appear to verify other users are online. While users are connected, look for any saving/loading messages in the lower right. This indicates there is some network activity happening!

If the connection disappears before any images are recieved, press B to back out to Press Start menu and then re-enter the game.

If "Users Connected" doesn't appear anymore, restart app.

Other tips:

Leaving the XBOX Guide open while connected to users may boost performance slightly.

Because of the way the game automatically connects to sessions, your ability to share may be affected by others who are online at the same time. If the above steps do not work, trying again when less people are online may help.

Transferring images can take some time- try leaving the app running for 30 mins and see if any new images are downloaded.

If you are trying to share images with your friend:

Due to a bug in the netsharing, players only share images with the host of a network session (who will then redistribute them but since the connectivity is finicky they might not get to the 2 friends). To host, you need to be online when there is nobody online..

You know what I'm going to pull the game until I get everything fixed.
There will be seperate HOST/JOIN options, specifically for friends trying to share images.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I will post updates on how the patch is progressing

So theres a patch for Puzzwords in review right now, I estimate if things go well then it should be available on LIVE (just re-download the game to get it) in a couple days! Hopefully it is bug free and doesnt fail the process, but there have been no reports of bugs yet.

In the meantime there is a site called www.XboxIndies.com that lets users rate, and comment on games! Here is a link to the Puzzwords page- http://www.xboxindies.com/game/puzzwords.

I think this is the best word puzzle game on the service yet (though Wordzy and Word Soup are also fun).

Next project coming out is a simple app that doesn't yet exist on the service. It's been ready for a while but crafty bugs have delayed its release by a number of weeks. Its in review again and hopefully everything is all ironed out this time! I'll post more details when its farther down the review process :)
